licence terms
Licence terms.
The short version: you can use what you buy, on the number of workstations you paid for, for as long as you like. Updates and support run for 12 months and renew yearly if you choose.

1. Who we are
The software is supplied by Harry Smallwood, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@harrylsmallwood.com. Online card payments are processed by our reseller, who acts as the merchant of record and issues your receipt and VAT invoice.
2. Your licence
When you buy a licence, we grant your organisation a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to install and use the software on the number of workstations stated in your order, for your own internal work, including casework and producing reports for use in legal proceedings.
The licence covers every version released while you're covered by the initial year or an active subscription. Those versions remain licensed if the subscription ends.
3. Fees, subscription, updates and support
You pay a one-off initial licence fee per workstation, which includes 12 months of new versions and email support from the date of purchase. After that, updates and support continue through an annual subscription, billed yearly in advance. Card subscriptions renew automatically and we'll remind you at least 30 days before each renewal; invoiced subscriptions are renewed by purchase order.
You can cancel the subscription at any time, effective at the end of the year already paid for. If it ends, the software keeps working and your licence continues for the versions you already have; newer versions and support aren't included. A subscription restarted after a gap runs on from the date it lapsed.
4. What you may not do
- Use the software on more workstations than you've paid for at the same time, or outside the unit named on a unit licence.
- Share, sell, sublicense or publish the software or your licence file outside your organisation.
- Alter, forge or bypass the licence file or its checks.
- Reverse engineer the software, except where the law allows it regardless of this term.
5. Your data
The software runs on your own systems. It doesn't send us, or anyone else, your files, evidence or results, and licence checks happen entirely on your machine.
6. Your responsibilities
The software is a tool to assist a trained examiner. You're responsible for validating it for your own methods, checking its results and the conclusions you draw from them.
7. Refunds
If the software doesn't work as described, tell us within 30 days of the initial purchase and we'll fix it or refund the licence fee. Subscription payments are refundable within 14 days of a renewal if you haven't installed a version released during the new period. Your statutory rights are not affected.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you under any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of data.
9. Third-party components
The software includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in the software's About screen. Some products use tools you install separately, such as FFmpeg or COLMAP, under those tools' own licences.
10. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Where a purchase order or signed agreement says otherwise, that takes priority for that order.
